Bates Spool-Fed Stapler penman Twist pencilBATES MODEL 'B' SPOOL FED STAPLER. Uses a spool of fine brass wire to make and plant staples . It's stamped with an unclear date that may be Jul 27, 1936. It works and has a pair of tweezers stowed in the bottom, apparently for stringing the brass wire. This is another contraption that would make Rube Goldberg envious. Overall, it's in very fine condition. It's painted in olive drab, so this may have been government equipment.
